Oral feeding aids that employ electromechanical mechanisms to assist or enable disabled patients to feed themselves (i.e., oral self-feeding). These aids are typically a tabletop, electric-powered device that includes a semiautomated, push-button-operated mechanism that fills an attached spoon, moves it toward the oral cavity, and discards any leftover food. These devices also include food containers (e.g., bowls) appropriate for containing liquids or solids. Oral feeding electromechanical aids are intended to provide independent eating capability to otherwise disabled patients.
