Magnetic bars designed to stir solutions by spinning in synchrony with an external magnetic field usually provided by an electronic unit located below the solution container. These devices typically consist of small (from a few millimeters to several centimeters) bars made of ferromagnetic materials with a variety of cross-sections (e.g., octagonal, circular) that are covered with a chemically-inert material (e.g., Teflon, glass). Magnetic stir bars are part of magnetic stirrers used to stir low- or medium-volume solutions.
