Tubing made of metal or metal alloys. Metallic tubing is typically a small-diameter, hollow, cylinder designed for the transfer of materials, either liquids or gases. These devices may be rigid, semirigid, or flexible; they are typically made with different structures (e.g., reinforced) according to the intended use. Metallic tubing is usually available in standardized lengths and in a variety of diameters and wall thicknesses (i.e., gauges) that permit the use of segments of different sizes appropriate for a given application in the healthcare facility.
