Lensometers designed for the manual measurement of the optical characteristics of spectacle and/or contact lenses (e.g. spherical power, cylinder power, cylinder axis, prismatic power, lens diameter). Manual lensometers are microscope-like devices that mainly consist of an eyepiece, lens platform, power dial, axis wheel, and marking device control. The instruments measure how the light is refracted as it passes through the lens. Manual lensometers are used mainly to determine whether the lens characteristics and the prescription match.
