  • Chromatography injectors that are operated manually and are sample-delivery systems designed to interface with gas-liquid chromatography or high-pressure liquid chromatography systems to introduce gas, liquid, or solid phase micro extraction samples into the sample loop (mobile phase) of the chromatography system in the smallest volume possible so that the sample enters the stationary phase column as a homogeneous, low-volume plug. They come in different shapes and sizes to fit into various chromatography units and typically feature an injection port to receive the sample microsyringe while in injection mode, and outflow ports that interface with the stator injection port of the chromatography unit to inject the sample into the chromatography unit while in outflow mode. The injector is manually switched between the two modes by the operator by rotating the handle of the injector. The manual injectors usually have tight seals between interface ports and are made of stainless steel or other noncorrosive materials to avoid contamination of samples and wear of the injector components by the sample material. Manual injectors are usually used when only one or a few samples need to be introduced into the chromatography unit in a fast and uniform manner at a controlled pressure.
