Surgical distractors designed to apply traction force to the arm allowing access to the shoulder joint space. The distractors allow the surgeon to adjust the angle of abduction and the forward flexion angle. These distractors typically consist of an adjustable force mechanism that may include clamps, screws, levers, and a strap attached to the arm; the mechanism may be attached to the operating table (e.g., on a side rail) or other type of support. Shoulder distractors are intended for use during shoulder (and/or elbow) surgical procedures, such as arthroscopic surgery.
