Respiratory function mechanics analyzers designed to measure the patency of the upper respiratory airways (oropharynx) using acoustic reflection. These analyzers consist of a mouthpiece, a sound source, microphones for both the emitted and reflected sounds, filters, a wave tube that matches the diameter of the oral airways, and a computerized unit using dedicated software to process the measured data and display and/or record the airway patency graph. Acoustic reflectometry respiratory analyzers are used to assess the patency of the upper respiratory tract during screening and/or diagnostic procedures including changes in the tract due to patient breathing.
