  • One-lung ventilation tracheal tubes designed as a double-lumen tube. These tubes typically include two cuffs, one terminating in the trachea and the other in the main stem bronchus. Some tubes (e.g., Robertshaw tubes) permit either left- or right-lung isolation (clamping the bronchial lumen and ventilating the tracheal lumen and vice versa, respectively); other tubes that include a carinal hook are designed either for left-side (e.g., Carlens tube) or right-side (e.g., White tube) ventilation. Wire-guided tubes introduced through a bronchoscope are also available. Double-lumen one-lung ventilation tracheal tubes are used mainly during thoracic surgery and/or intensive care procedures; they usually facilitate application of suction and/or continuous positive airway pressure ventilation. Double lumen tubes that include a video camera attached at the distal tip to facilitate visualization of the procedures are also available.
