Device testing software designed to operate external cardiac pacemaker testers, control/monitor a limited number of the tester functions, and/or process data obtained while testing. This software may be intended to work with one or a few models of external pacemaker testers, usually from the same manufacturer. The software may perform a variety of algorithms to facilitate the operation and analysis of the measurements performed while assessing the pacemaker parameters. External cardiac pacemaker testing software is not usually available separate from the tester but may be updated (i.e., through the release of modified versions) during the life of the tester; the software is mainly used in biomedical engineering departments located in healthcare facilities. Dedicated device testing software that can simulate the electrocardiographic signal and arrhythmia waveform to verify the monitoring capabilities of the pacemaker is also available.
