Software designed to operate environmental parameter monitors, control/monitor a limited number of their functions, and/or process data obtained while monitoring. This software is intended to work only with one or a few models of environmental monitors, usually from the same manufacturer. The software may perform a variety of algorithms to facilitate the operation and analysis of the measurements performed while monitoring environmental parameters either in the atmosphere or in enclosed environments (e.g., patient or clean rooms), and/or while processing and or transmitting/receiving information from hospital information systems. Environmental monitoring software is not usually available separate from the monitor but may be updated (i.e., through the release of modified versions) during the life of the equipment; the software is mainly used in closed environments located in healthcare facilities. Dedicated software for environmental measuring of temperature, gases (e.g., oxygen, ethylene oxide), and radiation is available.
