Laboratory measurement software designed to operate in-vitro oximeters, control/monitor a limited number of their functions, and/or process data obtained while measuring (e.g., hemoglobin forms). This software is intended to work only with one or a few models of in-vitro oximeters, usually from the same manufacturer. The software may perform a variety of algorithms such as quality control, detecting out-of-range specimens, provide customized reports, and send/receive patient information from the local information system. Laboratory oximeter software is usually not available separate from the oximeter but may be updated (i.e., through the release of modified versions) during the life of the equipment.
