  • refers to one of three terminal nuclei of the accessory optic tract, different combinations of which are found in different species. The medial nucleus is found at the medial border of the crus cerebri in the midbrain of the rat ( Swanson-1998 ) and the mouse ( Paxinos-2001 ). The other two terminal nuclei are the dorsal nucleus of the accessory optic tract and the lateral nucleus of the accessory optic tract.
