refers to cortical folds on the medial surface of the parietal lobe of the human. Identified by dissection, they are located adjacent to the splenial sulcus and the parieto-occipital sulcus in the transition zone between the posterior cingulate gyrus and the cuneus. They are not found in the macaque ( Vogt-1995 ) or in the smooth cerebral cortex of the rat or mouse ( NeuroNames ).
