Cuffs designed to apply localized external pressure (i.e., compression) on a limb artery (e.g., femoral, radial) to promote hemostasis. These devices typically consist of a soft fabric and/or plastic disposable cuff with an inner attachment (e.g., disc, button) that is applied on the skin over the artery; the cuffs may include a manual mechanism for pressure control. External compression vascular closure cuffs are intended to promote hemostasis faster and/or easier than is possible with the application only of manual pressure; they are used mainly after catheterization procedures performed through the femoral or radial vasculature.
