  • Simulators designed for periodic biological audiometer calibration checks without the involvement of human listeners. These simulators typically consist of tabletop or portable, electrically (e.g., battery) powered devices capable of testing continuous or intermittent sound levels in a frequency range from 125 Hz to 8 kHz, usually from standard earphones. The simulator includes sound to electrical transducers (i.e., microphones), electronic circuits, and controls; some devices also include a display.
