Carts designed for filing and local transport of documents (e.g., folders, charts, cards, radiographic film). These carts typically consist of an open or enclosed structure made of metal, glass, plastic, wood, or a combination of these materials and may include drawers, shelves, and doors. The structure is mounted on medium-sized (e.g., 7.5 to 10.0 cm/3 to 4 in in diameter) wheels that are usually an integral part of the cart. Filing carts are available in many different configurations and sizes; many carts are manufactured to store some particular type of document such as standard letter or legal paper, cards (e.g., medical records, library). Filing carts dedicated to storage of a particular medium such as radiographic film, large-sized documents (e.g., blueprints) or hanging folders, audio or video cassettes, and compact discs are also available. They are used in clinical and non-clinical areas of the healthcare facility, including intensive care units, patient rooms, physician\'s offices, pharmacies, and clinical laboratories.
