  • Endoscopic morcellators consisting of a system that combines an electrically powered unit, a hand piece, and appropriate blades, brushes, and extractors designed to perform the division and removal (i.e., morcellation) of tissue through an endoscope using minimally invasive surgery (e.g., laparoscopic) procedures. They work by suction, which pulls the tissue into its tip where it is minced by a rapidly rotating blade, thereby excising and evacuating the tissue to be removed. Endoscopic gynecology morcellators are mostly used for dissection of the large tissue masses typically found in gynecological procedures, such as in the extraction of the uterus or benign tumors (myomas).
