  • Tissue ablation radio-frequency (RF) therapy systems designed to ablate regions of the airway smooth muscle inside the bronchi. These systems consist of a central unit with low-power temperature controlled RF generator, a standard flexible bronchoscope that may be introduced through the nose or mouth, and a catheter with an electrode array at the tip that is introduced through the bronchoscope lumen into the airways. Once the electrode array reaches the target area it is expanded against the airway wall and activated to perform the muscle ablation. The process may be repeated in different segments of the bronchi in the same procedure and usually in other areas of the lung during other sessions of the treatment.
