Equipment designed to collect (i.e., remove) dust and other debris from the environment created while performing procedures that produce a high concentration of air particles. These collectors typically consist of a stand-alone unit that includes filters that entrap particles one micron or less in diameter. A low-noise motor then provides suction of the polluted air or a connection to a vacuum source, a collection canister, and appropriate controls. Dedicated dust/debris collectors are available for particular procedures, including bone and related products cutting (e.g., orthopedic surgery, cast cutting, autopsies) and also for dental laboratories. Some dust collectors are integral part of medical equipment (e.g., grinders, saws, dental trimmers).
