Surgical hooks designed to temporarily secure the dura mater by catching and/or pulling it during dissection, excision, and/or to perform other surgical procedures with minimal trauma. These surgical hooks are handheld manual stainless steel instruments with either curved or sharply bent working ends (usually at angles from 135 to 180 degrees) and have blunt or sharp tips; the hooks typically include a handle at the proximal end. Dura mater surgical hooks are usually double-pronged tools. They are typically maneuvered via a micromanipulator. Dura mater surgical hooks are used during neurosurgical procedures to cause minimal damage to the meninges.
