Finger upper-limb orthoses designed to encompass the metacarpo-phalangeal (MCP) joint of a finger during therapeutic or functional procedures. These orthoses consist of a variety of devices frequently including a semi-rigid lightweight plastic structure with aluminum stays (e.g., a splint) and closure straps or sleeves. Finger MCP orthoses are used to prevent further development of finger deformities, for rehabilitation and/or therapy after surgery or trauma, and less frequently for functional purposes.
