Finger orthoses designed to provide immobilization and support to the distal inter-phalangeal (DIP) joints of the fingers. They also support, supplement, and/or augment the functions and/or structure of these joints. These orthoses may consist of soft, semi-rigid, or rigid devices that are fixed to the hand and fingers keeping the distal inter-phalangeal joints immobilized or allowing only controlled motion. Dedicated DIP orthoses for immobilization during rehabilitation after trauma, to provide static and/or dynamic therapy, and for use during normal function of the fingers are available.
