Proximal inter-phalangeal (PIP) orthoses designed to provide maximum extension of the PIP joint and simultaneous free movement of the distal phalangeal joint during therapeutic treatment that are static splints. These orthoses typically consist of a padded splint (known as Boutonniere splints) extending along the finger but not including the distal joint. The splint includes several straps encircling the finger. Boutonniere splints are used for therapy after surgical correction of Boutonniere deformities.
