Therapeutic inter-phalangeal (IP) orthoses designed for external modification of the structural and/or functional characteristics of the fingers by providing a controlled flexion of the proximal IP joint and simultaneous extension of the distal IP joint during therapeutic treatment. Known as neck-swan splints, these orthoses typically consist of a padded angled splint extending along the finger. The splint includes several straps encircling the finger. Neck-swan splints are used for therapy after surgical correction of neck-swan deformities of the fingers.
