  • Cervicothoracic immobilizer orthoses designed for maximum restriction of movements and/or total immobilization (i.e., motion control) of the cervical and thoracic (trunk) segments of the spine using a sternal plate. These orthoses consist of rigid structures that include a sternal plate with shoulder extensions and both mandibular and occipital pads and bars. Sternal immobilizer orthoses provide good flexion control of the cervical spine; they are used for long-term treatment of spinal fractures and less frequently to alleviate spinal pain.
