Garments designed to maintain body temperature without applying an external source of heat. These garments usually consist of clothing (e.g., vests, jackets, pajamas) made of fabrics with special properties (e.g., wool, synthetic material) that provides the user isolation from the environment and permits appropriate warming by keeping his/her own body heat. Warming garments are intended for use when the environment is cold or to provide warmth to patients suffering from anatomical or brain damage or disease (e.g., muscle inflammation, poor blood circulation, cerebral palsy, stroke). The garment may also be used during rehabilitation treatments.
