Serology reagents intended to detect immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies to Arbovirus, a pathogenic class of viruses that replicates in blood-feeding arthropods; they usually belong to the families Bunyaviridae, Flaviviridae, Reoviridae, Rhabdoviridae, or Togaviridae. Some types of this virus may cause encephalitis (e.g., Saint Louis encephalitis, western equine encephalitis, California encephalitis group, eastern equine encephalitis). The test is used as an aid in the diagnosis of arboviral infection.
