Serology reagents intended to detect immunoglobulin M (IgM) antibodies to Lassa fever virus, an enveloped RNA virus of the old world group of Arenaviruses (i.e., LCM/Lassa complex) of the family Arenaviridae. This virus may cause acute hemorrhagic fever in humans (known as Lassa fever); it is usually associated with multimammate rats (Mastomys natalensis) by which the virus is transmitted to humans.
