Molecular assay reagents intended to identify echovirus, a group of viruses of the genus Enterovirus, family Picornaviridae, by detecting the ribonucleic acid (RNA) of the target virus. This virus may have a wide range of clinical presentations. Echoviruses may cause acute febrile illness in infants and young children; they are also associated with rashes, diarrhea, respiratory infections (e.g., sore throat, bronchitis), pericarditis, and aseptic meningitis.
