Immunoassay reagents intended to perform qualitative and/or quantitative analyses on a body fluid sample (e.g., urine, serum, saliva) to determine cotinine, the most frequently measured metabolite of nicotine. Cotinine is present in people that smoke or consume other tobacco-related products; it may be also present in nonsmokers as a consequence of passive smoking. Both cotinine and another major metabolite of nicotine, trans-3-hydroxycotinine (THOC) may be measured using chromatographic methods.
