Immunoassay reagents intended to perform quantitative analyses on a body fluid sample (e.g., serum, plasma) to measure levels of propanolol (a non-cardioselective beta-adrenergic antagonist used in the treatment or prevention of many disorders including acute myocardial infarction, arrhythmias, angina pectoris, hypertension, hypertensive emergencies, hyperthyroidism, migraine, pheochromocytoma, menopause, and anxiety) in the sample. Propanolol drug levels are seldom used for therapeutic drug monitoring because there is no close correlation between blood concentration levels of propanolol and drug effects; these reagents are more often used to diagnose a drug overdose or drug-related toxicity.
