Immunoassay reagents intended to perform quantitative analyses on a body fluid sample (e.g., serum, plasma) to measure levels of procainamide (an antiarrhythmic drug used in the treatment of premature ventricular contractions [PVCs], ventricular tachycardia, and atrial fibrillation) in a sample. These reagents are used in tests to monitor procainamide levels in patients undergoing treatment to determine the adequacy of therapy and to diagnose drug overdose or drug-related toxicity. Procainamide levels are typically measured in conjunction with levels of the procainamide metabolite, N-acetylprocainamide (NAPA).
