  • Immunoassay reagents intended to perform qualitative and/or quantitative analyses on a body fluid sample (typically urine) to determine cyclic adenosin monophosphate (cAMP), a cyclic nucleotide that mediates the action of some hormones, such as parathyroid hormone (PTH). Decreased levels of cAMP in urine are found in most patients with hypercalcemia, with the exception of humoral hypercalcemia due to malignant tumors. The level of cAMP in urine is infrequently used as an index of PTH secretion; it is not considered a specific marker of bone metabolism.
