Immunoassay reagents intended to perform qualitative and/or quantitative analyses on a body fluid sample (typically serum) to determine apolipoprotein A; this apolipoprotein is the main protein in high-density lipids (HDLs), forming a group of lipid-protein complexes in which HDLs are transported in the blood. Apolipoprotein A is found in at least four forms named A-I to A-IV; the major components are apolipoprotein A-I and A-II. Apolipoprotein A-III was formerly known as lipoprotein D. The levels of apolipoproteins in plasma are associated with the risk of atherosclerosis and coronary artery diseases.
