Hematology reagents intended to perform qualitative and/or quantitative analyses on a body fluid sample (typically plasma) to determine plasmin, a proteolytic enzyme that is one of the components of the fibrinolytic enzyme system in blood and that has strong affinity for fibrin. Plasmin levels are increased in several diseases, including fibrinogenolysis and severe liver diseases; congenital abnormalities are rare.
