Immunoassay reagents intended to perform qualitative and/or quantitative analyses on a body fluid sample (typically serum) to determine apolipoprotein A-I, a component of a group of lipid-protein complexes in which HDLs are transported in the blood. Apolipoproteins A-I and A-II are nearly 90% of the high-density lipid protein complexes in plasma; the apolipoprotein A-I level is typically three times the level of apolipoprotein A-II. Levels of apolipoproteins in plasma are associated with atherosclerosis and risk of coronary artery diseases.
