Immunoassay reagents intended to perform qualitative and/or quantitative analyses on a serum or plasma sample to determine Troponin I, the circulating inhibiting subunit of cardiac troponin (cTnI) that prevents actin-myosin binding. Troponin is a complex of globular muscle proteins that inhibits contraction by blocking the interaction of actin and myosin; it is usually bound to tropomyosin. The level of liberated cTnI is a highly specific marker of the occurrence of ischemic heart injuries (as the result of myocardial infarction)
