Microbiology reagents intended to identify Listeria monocytogenes, a bacterium of the genus Listeria. Listeria monocytogenes bacteria are the cause of listeriosis and in utero infections resulting in abortion, stillbirth, and premature birth. Infections acquired during birth cause cardiorespiratory distress, diarrhea, vomiting, and meningitis; infection in adults produces meningitis, endocarditis, and disseminated granulomatous lesions.
