Microbiology reagents intended to identify species of Salmonella, a genus of motile bacteria with petrichous flagella of the family Enterobacteriaceae. Salmonella bacteria that are pathologic to humans include S. typhi, the cause of typhoid fever, and S. choleraesuis, an etiologic agent of paratyphoid, gastroenteritis, and septicemia.
