Microbiology reagents used to assess the susceptibility of bacteria to antibacterial agents (e.g., antibiotics) using automated analyzers. There are two types of automated susceptibility tests available: the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) tests, based on the determination of the minimum concentration at which there is no visible growth of the bacteria in a dilution and the break-point tests that differentiate between the categories of susceptible, moderately susceptible, or resistant.
