  • Immunohematology reagents used for detection and/or identification of antibodies in the blood (typically in serum) of one individual that react with antigens on the red blood cells of another person (alloantibodies). Usually, the unexpected antibodies of clinical significance in immunohematology are those that shorten the survival of transfused red cells or are associated with the hemolytic disease of the newborn (HDN). Antibody detection reagents are mostly used in pretransfusion testing and in prenatal testing to evaluate the likelihood of HDN.
