Immunohematology reagents used to characterize human blood according to a complex group of immunogenic antigens known as Rhesus antigens. Rhesus antigens are classified according to either the genetic constituent of the blood (e.g., C, D, E) or numbered following the order of discovery (Rh1, Rh2, and so on). The major Rhesus antigen is Rh1 (D antigen), a highly immunogenic antigen that is the only Rh antigen matched in routine transfusion practice.
