Immunohematology reagents used for antigen detection on human red blood cells that permit its characterization into different types (i.e., typing or blood grouping). The most important blood groups are ABO and Rh; other blood groups with less clinical significance include Lewis, Lutheran, MN, and Ss groups. Blood grouping is frequently performed on donors and patients in the process of selecting red cells for transfusion.
