Hematology reagents designed to perform tests in a short period of time, typically several minutes, to determine the time required to form a fibrin clot (i.e., blood coagulation) when calcium chloride, partial thromboplastin, and an activator are added to the plasma. This assay is a measure of possible factor deficiencies of the intrinsic and common pathway of coagulation, and is also used to monitor heparin therapy.
