Hematology reagents intended to perform qualitative and/or quantitative analyses on a sample of body fluids (typically plasma) to determine fibrinogen (i.e., coagulation factor I), a plasma protein that is converted into fibrin in the common pathway of coagulation. Deficiency of fibrinogen causes afibronogenemia or hypofibronogenemia, and is associated with inherited disorders, the presence of thrombin inhibitors, or with fibrin polymerization.
