Hematology reagents used in the qualitative and quantitative determination of the conjugated protein in the blood that is responsible for the transport of oxygen (i.e., hemoglobin [Hb]). These reagents may be intended for determination of the total Hb concentration in the blood. Hb subtypes, also known as Hb variants, such as HbA (adult hemoglobin), HbF (fetal hemoglobin), HbC (abnormal hemoglobin), and HbS (Hb related to sickle-cell anemia) are mostly determined using electrophoresis analysis.
