Immunoassay reagents intended to perform quantitative analyses on a body fluid sample (e.g., serum, plasma) to measure the levels of one or more of a group of therapeutic drugs known as antiasthma agents (i.e., drugs administered to humans for treatment and/or alleviation of patients with asthma [a form of bronchial disorder associated with airway obstruction, marked by recurrent attacks of paroxysmal dyspnea, with wheezing due to spasmodic contraction of the bronchi]). These reagents are used to monitor the antiasthmatic drug (e.g., theophylline) levels in the blood of patients undergoing treatment, either to determine the adequacy of drug treatment or to diagnose a drug overdose or drug-related toxicity.
