Immunoassay reagents intended to perform qualitative and/or quantitative analyses of a sample of body fluids (e.g., serum) to determine CA 125, a carbohydrate-related tumor marker. The detection of the tumor marker CA 125 is mostly used in the prognosis of endometrial carcinoma; the level of CA 125 is also used for monitoring ovarian carcinoma because of its correlation with tumor size and staging. The level of CA 125 may also be used for differentiation of a malignant disease from a benign disease in patients with palpable ovarian masses and for diagnosis and monitoring of primary fallopian tube carcinoma. CA 125 is not useful for screening for ovarian cancer.
