Clinical chemistry reagents intended to perform qualitative and/or quantitative chemical analysis of body fluids (e.g., whole blood, serum) to determine the level of lactates and/or lactic acid, an intermediary in carbohydrate metabolism. Increased levels of lactate in serum are found in hypoxic states such as shock, hypovolemia, and cardiac failure and in metabolic states such as neoplasia and diabetes mellitus.
