Total lower-limb orthoses designed for lower-limb support and also to provide some degree of movement restriction to the limb. These orthoses consist of a variety of devices that give support to the lower limb and are usually attached to furniture, structure, or a wheelchair. Total lower-limb supports are frequently used to keep the limb in an appropriate position during rehabilitation after injuries or disease; dedicated lower-limb supports (e.g., slings, platforms) are also available.
